Plant Manager - Debre Birhan

Missions essentielles

As Plant Manager for our Debre Birhan site, you will report to the General Manager and lead the plant to meet production, cost, quality, safety, hygiene and environmental standards—on time and within budget. You’ll build a high‑performing team culture through Operational Excellence, ensure full compliance (HSE, HACCP, Food Safety) and drive continuous improvement year after year.

Your main tasks

  • Lead & develop the plant team using a structured Operational Excellence approach, fostering a positive, results‑oriented culture aligned with Boortmalt values.
  • Deliver budgeted output on time and at the right total cost, in full compliance with safety, hygiene, environmental and operational standards.
  • Keep the site “audit ready” at all times and recognized as best in class by customers and external auditors.
  • Ensure reliable maintenance & asset care, operating all equipment per SOPs and steering CAPEX/maintenance projects to plan and budget.
  • Own malt quality & customer satisfaction, meeting defined specs and continuously reducing complaints.
  • Drive SMART KPI performance & continuous improvement, challenge the status quo and share best practices across plants while implementing Group initiatives and business systems.
  • Champion compliance with statutory and legal obligations (SHE, HACCP, Food Safety, Employment legislation).
  • Run reporting & administration rhythms (daily/weekly/monthly/annual/ExCom), ensuring timely, accurate data and proactive risk escalation.

Profil / Compétences requises

  • Education: BSc in Agriculture/Food Science/Engineering or equivalent through experience.
  • Experience: 8+ years in a managerial operational role—ideally in malting / agri‑food / beverages—with proven team leadership.
  • Expertise: Continuous Improvement, Energy Management, Process visualisation, Budget & Team Management, Total Safety.
  • Compliance mindset: Confident implementing SOPs and legal/food safety requirements (SHE, HACCP, ISO frameworks).
  • Language: English required; additional local language skills are a plus.
  • Change leader & coach: You inspire, guide and develop people to their full potential while implementing business improvements.
  • Sustainability & innovation: You translate Group commitments into plant‑level actions (energy, water, waste) and deliver tangible progress.
