As the Laboratory Manager EU, you are responsible for leading the Boortmalt EU laboratories (Antwerp, Herent and Nova Gradiska). By enabling effective quality control capabilities and generating accurate, timely and reliable results you make sure that the Antwerp and Herent labs are the reference within the industry. You develop the Antwerp lab as the research and development lab of Boortmalt, both for lab equipment and practices as for supporting the innovation department of Boortmalt.
You enable root cause determination for technical solutions, using your problem solving skills and help ensure lab practices are aligned with other global labs.
Your main responsibilities include:
- Embracing the safety culture in the regional lab organization, and making sure that each lab member understands and implements this.
- Providing direct leadership, role modelling, support and guidance, talent development to the laboratory team.
- Providing oversight that ensures the provision of cost efficient and reliable laboratory services. Deploy and validate “new” methods as needed.
- Making sure there is accurate and timely completion of laboratory analysis for all Boortmalt malting plants across Europe region
- Utilisation of Standard Laboratory Methods, or other industry recognized methods, across all labs.
- Overseeing the data management and reporting-out requirements to deliver to customer satisfaction
- Provide strong structured problem solving processes involving the lab team and other key stakeholders.
- Coordinate participation in laboratory proficiency testing schemes for all the malt labs.
- Manage the maintenance and repairs for analysis equipment and their accessories. This shall also include any requirements for the purchase, installation and maintenance of new instrumentation
- Direct communication with stakeholders in Operations, Commercial and Barley Supply chain
- Support the innovation department of Boortmalt
- Key contacts to external laboratories and involvement for customer/barley suppliers in case of lab analysis-related complaints
- Ensure implementation of the Boortmalt Good Laboratory Practice program and compliance of laboratories to Boortmalt EHS requirements
- Make Antwerp the research and development lab of Boortmalt, both for lab equipment and practices
