QUALITY SPECIALIST

Missions essentielles

The Quality & Technical Manager Antwerp and CE is responsible to implement the technical strategy for the region and ensuring that our malting sites and products meet the highest standards for quality, food safety, and regulatory compliance. He/she will work to raise the profile of quality across the region and ensure that sites embrace a "total quality" approach to malt manufacturing with the aim of reducing customer complaints and food safety incidents to zero. 
This role focuses on technical support for the customers, with guidance of the Boortmalt commercial department on one side and for the Boortmalt malting sites on the other side.

This role will be responsible for: 
1) The implementation of regulatory and compliance driven initiatives:
- Ensure the effective deployment of Group’s Quality, food and feed safety policy.
- Implement, monitor and maintain the quality procedures.
- Implement the certifications.
- Respect the company's HSE policies at all times and encourage colleagues to do the same. 

2) Audits: 
- Support audits and certifications on Quality Systems and Food/Feed Safety regulatory.
- Managing client audits.


3) Technical support for internal and external customers: 
- Develop, under the supervision of the regional technical & quality manager, policies and processes to ensure pro active customer relationship management, leading to a reduction of complaints and improvement of first time right. 
- Lead the quality review meetings with designated customers in the region.
- Run the customer complaints process.
- Support for commercial account managers on Customer Relation Management.
- Point of Contact in the region related to technical support.
- Implement and monitor the KPI’s to measure the technical performance (malt and barley) towards the company and the customers and undertake root cause analyses. 
- Support the barley execution team on supplier management.
- Support the OPS team with quality and food safety specifications for Capex.
- Support on macro scale pilots.
- Approval of specifications

4) Support in the development of continuous improvement, quality strategy & governance:
- Develop and implement continuous quality improvement projects concerning technical from barley to beer.
- Coordinate crop surveys.
- Member of the Global Technical & Quality Team, contributing to the development of the Global Quality Strategy and Governance.
- Leading one of the 7 Global Technical & Quality Pillars, as assigned by the regional Technical & Quality Manager Continental Europe

Profil / Compétences requises

- Bachelor degree in a technical field: agriculture, agronomy, food science, chemistry or related discipline or equivalent by experience

- Has demonstrated experience in a malting and/or brewing industry 
- Has demonstrated experience with food safety systems, preferably FSSC 22000 
- Minimum 5 years experience in a senior quality, technical, food processing or production role
- Experience in problem solving and change management
- Sound knowledge of biochemistry for technical (process) support of the business
- Good communicator

- Fluent English, other languages such as Dutch or French are a plus
