TECHNICAL MANAGER

Missions essentielles

  • Manage the maintenance and repair of all production facilities, processes and premises
  • Develops and leads a team of highly motivated, well trained and competent staff by agreeing departmental performance standards, providing regular feedback and developing staff training programs.
  • Ensures the integrity and reliability of plant by implementing and effectively administering maintenance systems for all process areas and bagging equipment.
  • Ensures the plant complies with relevant legislation and regulations by maintaining knowledge of legal requirements and ensuring all surveys and fees are completed and paid on time.
  • Ensures the technical department operates within company SHE standards through continued education and obtaining the co-operation and commitment of all staff; applying and enforcing safety rules and promoting the Boortmalt safety culture; ensure all activities on site are carried out in accordance with HSE & quality policies and systems.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of operating systems/ standards and provide feedback to Management team for improvement
  • Manage the engineering activities on the Debre Berhan site - development opportunities, KPI management to achieve 'best in industry' standards
  • Drive zero out of specifications culture at the lowest cost
  • Technical project management - lead and manage all kind of technical projects of the site according to the procedures, CAPEX and BOPEX planning to ensure on time and within budget implementation; participate in the continuous improvement programme (BOPEX) and in the Group's industrial projects.
  • Build and follow a preventive maintenance plan, continuously improving by implementing recommendations of corrective and preventive actions.Primary internal and external contact for all engineering and operational issues
  • Manage purchases of technical equipment and evaluate suppliers
  • Ensure Operational readiness for customer audits and technical reviews; participate in customer audits and technical reviews.
  • Lead site team input into the development of new engineering tools and systems.
  • Lead the automated maintenance management system to continuously improve the performance of the site in line with the requirements of the company's strategy and to reduce the overall cost of maintenance throughout the cycle; ensure correct usage and implementation of the CMMS (Maximo) system and Boortmalt standards; ensuring the documentation of all reparations in the maintenance management system.
  • In cooperation with the safety manager, design and implement safe working procedures for own employees and contractors.
  • Responsible for maintaining and enhancing engineering standards that enable production departments to meet their current and future objectives in a timely and cost effective manner.
  • Carry out an analysis of the causes of any non-compliant results that require corrective and preventive action to avoid any occurrence.
  • Set-up maintenance governance ( meetings, deliverables) and KPIs
  • Comply with all applicable procedures, laws, and regulations.Monitor and optimize the site's energy consumption (shared responsibility with production); lead and coordinate the energy-saving programs for the site.
  • Ensure on-call duty.
  • Being involved in volume and quality.

Profil / Compétences requises

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or an equivalent qualification through relevant experience.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of operational experience in the technical and maintenance of industrial equipment within a manufacturing environment, preferably in malting, brewing, or a similar industry, including at least 2 years of experience as a Technical Manager or in a related role.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills with a solution-oriented mindset.
  • Strong leadership and managerial skills.
  • Fluent in Amharic and English.
